To find a lift

If you want to find a lift, you can use the search page. Simply enter your destination and travel dates and select a lift from the results page. You can then contact the driver directly via telephone or e-mail.

As the person looking for the lift you contact the person who offered the lift to arrange important details such as the pickup and the cost before the journey.

The search fields

This is an explanation of each of the options on the search page.

• From - the town you want to leave from
• To - the town you want to get to.
• Date - the date you want to travel on.
• Date Variation - the number of days of variation on the date you entered that you want to include in the results. e.g. if you want to a lift on the 26th of March but you don't mind leaving on the 25th or 26th, enter 1 day as the date variation.
• Time of Day - the time of the day you want to leave.
• Only show direct routes - if you select this option, lifts that go through your locations but don't start and end at your locations will not be included in the results.

To offer a lift

Registration

If you would like to offer a lift you first have to register with us. Registering is absolutely free of charge.

Visit the registration page and fill out the details then hit "Finish" to create your account.

My Lifts page

The My Lifts page contains a list of lifts that you have offered. From here you can view, edit, delete and copy a lift or create a new one.

Creating a new lift

To offer a lift, go to the My Lifts page and click the "create lift" button.

You will then be taken to a form where you can enter the details of your travel. Here is an explanation of the fields.

• To and From - the towns you are leaving from and arriving in.
• Stopovers - any towns you are passing through that you are willing to pick someone up or drop someone off.
• Departure Date - when you want to leave.
• Departure Time - when you want to leave. This is sometimes just a starting point for arrangement.
• Comment - put any other conditions of information here, such as how flexible you are, how much room you have for luggage if you want to share driving or fuel costs, etc.
• Contact Details - this is where you specify which of your contact details are displayed along with your lift. The default is to show your home phone but you can choose to show more or different details. This is the only method for other travellers to contact you, so make sure you show something!

As the driver you will be directly contacted by a person interested to share a lift with you. The preferred method of contact is by mobile phone as but you can also specify to be contacted via e-mail or home phone. When you are contacted, you can organise where to meet and any shared expenses such as petrol. If you have more than one person sharing your lift you all will travel even cheaper and save more CO2 emission.
